I’m kinda new to the Megafaun bandwagon. They are often tied to Justin Vernon (the trio was once in a band with Mr. Iver and they recorded their new album in Justin’s home studio in Fall Creek, WI). Which means I steered clear. Bon Iver doesn’t do much for me. I don’t find Vernon’s music interesting – it’s beautiful but boring.
Megafaun on the other hand makes some truly incredible music. Extremely interesting. Richly textured and full of verve. From the sound of the track below, the new self-titled album (coming September 20) will continue to be wonderful, eccentric and interesting. As opposed to Bon Iver’s new album, this one might end up on my best of 2011 list.
