Philly Folk Fest, eh?

If you have been reading The Late Greats for a while, you know The Duke champions bands from Canada.  So when news broke this week that one of my favorite music festivals – The Philadelphia Folk Fest – will be featuring a “Canada Stage”, I got extra excited for the event (August 20-22).

Slated to play said stage (on Sunday the 22nd) are:

Treasa Levasseur

If you like your blues piano with sultry vocals, you’ll LOVE Treasa.

Nudie & The Turks

With a name like that, who wouldn’t want to see these guys live.

Justin Rutledge

I feel like I should already be a fan of Justin’s work. Sadly I’m not. Not yet, anyways.

Lee Harvey Osmond

They call it “acid folk”.  Looking forward to hearing how their sound sounds live.

Amelia Curran

Amelia won a Juno for Roots and Traditional Album Of The Year 2010.  Which for me is reason enough to give her a listen.
