Homonym Monday, Why The F*ck Is No One In America Blogging About & EP Review ∞ The Great Outdoors: Summer

It’s true, we may be in the final throws of Summer, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t time to enjoy a four song EP about this wonderful season. The Great Outdoors have released the second EP in their Seasons Series.

These folk-rockers (Adam Nation, Randy Forrester, Craig McCaul, Steve Wegelin, Steve Wells – with special appearances by Melisa Devost and RC Joseph) use an assortment of tones and textures on Summer: the usual rock instruments (electric guitars, bass, drums), some folk instruments (acoustic guitars, accordion and mandolin), some swelter vocal harmonies and summery lyrics.

Complete tracklist (complete with a brief synopsis):
1. Summer In The City (perfect lyrics and great backup vocals)
2. Give Everything (the somberest number on the EP – a lovely duet)
3. Last day Of Our Vacation (thundering and melancholy)
4. Maybe Time Will Tell (a tender, crunchy lovesong)

Rating: Da Capo Al Fine =
Siamese Dream
